ta-ta to 2004

finished off the last of mom's cookies today. and i'm about ready to take the tree down. christmas just wasn't my thing this year (a fact that i will blindly blame on the complete lack of snowfall this season). no specific complaints--- gifts were great, familytime was free of incidents, and i had an enjoyable day(s). it is more of a general animosity i have been harboring due to how fast the whole sha-bang snuck up on us. i mean, geesh. it's the new year already!?!?

truly, i hate new year's eve about as much as i hate jennifer garner or ben gibbard. (i NEVAH have a good time partying out on this most celebrated day) just about the only thing i do like about ringing in the new year is the best of lists everybody & their grandmother participates in around this time. waxing nostalgic makes me feel all gushy on the inside.

in other news, i've been all tied up loading the new ipod up with delightful goodies. i've managed 155 albums thus far and i still have a good bit to go---but don't think i'm being haphazard in my loading, all albums have undergone serious scrutiny.

and just for the record... hershey's chocolate is straight up boss. send me hundreds.

happy new year's suckas!

is it to early to discuss fav gifts?

i've been loading music into my brand new photo ipod all night. it's this year's most kick ass gift and i couldn't be more pleased about having days of music choices at my fingertips. with a baby blue leather carrying case, i am confident that making it my sidekick will bring me smiles (and serve to remind those around me just how boss i am). other gifts of note: a jade necklace that i've had my eye on for weeks, some classic adult swim dvds, cold cash, anne taintor paraphernalia, super-soft sheets, and some particularly nice hand lotion.... amongst other things.

another great gift this year: i have no work until jan 3rd. now, add in being able to take this as "free" paid time off. it couldn't be better. well, it could always be beter-- it is kick ass though! i hope to use the extra time very wisely. to begin, there are plans to see the life aquatic with steve zissou. looks like a trip to atlantic city may even happen. and then there are the multiple friend meet-ups scheduled throughout the week. ........ and inevitably there will be some cleaning. *groan*

it is mid-day and i am taking a break to taste the rainbow. work is exhausting these past few weeks and i am more than looking forward to some time off. i wish it began today....

tonight i see john waters in the nation's capital and i am quite pleased. a little christmas story time followed by Q&A followed by some band i do not care to see. i'm hoping the band deal-io is last last last so i can kirk out all early-like, thus getting to bed at a more reasonable hour. (yea. i'm THAT lame)

news: local male fish with eggs?.

wrap-up

truly i was hoping for snow. so much snow that i could spend the day at home catching up on paperwork (read: shitting around). but alas, nothing but high winds and bitter cold. blah.

the weekend was uneventful. i've been rushing like mad to finish up the christmas cards (cause i am that big of a dork) and also the shopping------ golly, there's nothing like being stood up for christmas shopping with the friend to really get you in the holiday spirit! *bastard* despite the asshole setback, the shopping is coming along. thanks for asking.

anyhow, the biggest of big news is that a shower has been installed in the house! i suppose many of you don't know, but for the past 3 years i've been confined to baths-only via the not-so-charming claw foot tub. and taking baths only is a entirely different way to live your life. time consuming and not-so-satisfying...... ooooooh, showers! i sing your praise.

..MEH..

goddamn! is it christmas break yet?!

(blah. it's gonna take me the week off to recuperate from the work chaos of this week.)

Monday, December 13

we finally put up the tree this weekend and i fought it tooth & nail. i dunno... i had convinced myself the whole tree-thing is just a big hassle. and what with the kitten & all, it only made sense that this year be skipped. but now it is up and i couldn't be happier. a big thank you to the man for forcing the issue. however, the kitten! *ugh* he is crazy man with the tree around. constant climbing and pouncing = constant yelling. i can only imagine what he does in the day with no one home. he's got some good climb on him though-- i'll give him that. i've seen him make it more than halfway up.

anyhow.... looking at the tree is nice-- colorful and sparkling and all. but perhaps the best part is putting it up. i get a cheap thrill uncovering each ornament--- quickly weeding out my favs and claiming prime real estate for them on the tree.

my favorite ornaments, a list: santa & the mrs in a Winnebago, yukon cornelius, the mystery machine, mrs. potato head, strawberry shortcake (old skool), starbelly sneeches, the grinch & max post heart growth, and this little girl on a swing i got one year when i was a wee one.

ps. did i put dick clark on my death poll 2005? cause i'd like to add him!

ponder that a moment

yea......

so when i was a impressionable young gal (read: cute & innocent), i recall a time when i was reading a girlie magazine and they had a small piece on what guys find unattractive. being extremely boy-crazy (now & then), i figured this information would prove to be very helpful in my quest to have all men melt at my feet. the wisdom produced by this article? guys find boney elbows VERY unattractive.............................. wait: can elbows be anything BUT boney?! aren't they boney by nature?

scary thing is i had a complex about my elbows for years. *sigh*

just a couple of things

i get sick of login usernames and passwords. main problem: i can never remember what these two items are and spend multiple tries attempting to correctly guess. ultimately, i have to order the password to be sent to me via email or whathaveyou. so today i had to order a password. imagine my amusement when it was delivered. my password: bullshit. i dare say i was irritated when i choose it.

on the topic of being irritated by companies..... why are so many stores requesting info like phone numbers and zip codes at the register? totally ridiculous. even more irritating, the sales clerk acts personally offended when i respond "uhhh, no."

and finally, you know....... now that he's lightened the load, john popper is really scary to me. i'm not sure why.

rock out with your cock out

i feel like i stole this from someone and now i don't know who... it'll raise a smile nonetheless. (my fav: i hope that cell phone gives you cancer)

speaking of smiles. i've been checking out the good flame. their album is all up & available on their site..... and those guys are funny. if nothing else, treat yourself to special place (just maybe not at work).

mere procrastination

i'm extending my weekend one more day, as today i home from work "sick". aside from shitting around, i plan to utilize my day getting started on the whole christmas card thing (email me your address, pretty please) and maybe even pull the tree down from the overstuffed attic. plus the man has talked me into a doctor's visit-- completely frivilous. (i mean, i've been riding the coattails of sick for a couple of weeks-- overusing nyquil and such.... but i'm in no way in need of antibiotics) it is nice to have a day off though. i am trying to cherish every moment and stop feeling guilty.

a bit of christmas shopping was done this weekend. just a wee bit. i have a few things for a few people but damn. no idea what to even get others. worst of all, in shopping, i have ended up buying things for myself. the list: a purse, 2 candles, a fugazi cd, a couple of new toys for the kitten, and some namebrand hair gunk. sometimes i can be a real girl about shopping.

tbone, i see your britney and raise you a christina

alright, i've been neglectful but, really, i've never been busier. (how's that for drama?!) there IS some truth there. i've been working like a mad dog----- making morning meetings by 8am and going nonstop 'til about 8pm each night. lucky thing it's almost over-- i'm losing my mind.... all this comp time, though! i'm collecting it like stamps cause next week me and this chick will be seeing the pixies for their two night run in the nation's capitol. two nights? you ask.. well, yes. the second night we have 3rd row seats! how could a gal pass up that? she just couldn't. anyhow,i plan to take some time off to fully enjoy my concert-going experience. no reason to get up early for work after getting home so late.

so, i've been thinking and thinking, trying to come up with something to offer you folks. what have i come up with? mostly nothing. but i have finally compiled my death poll 2005 list and plan to share away. i spent more time than i should have making these predictions, but damnit, that's the way i do things. here goes:
